Welding and Metal Fabrication

Introduction

The Welding and Metal Fabrication programme aims to  enable trainees to obtain the competencies required for performing metal fabrication tasks such as applying safety rules and regulations; planning and organizing metal fabrication work; using hand tools for metal fabrication operations etc.

Trainees are expected to master and demonstrate knowledge and skills pertaining to the following: 

  • Apply safety rules and regulations
  • Plan and organise metal fabrication work
  • Use hand tools for metal fabrication operations
  • Interpret welding signs and symbols as part of metal fabrication operations 
  • Apply workplace communication processes  
  • Operate portable metal fabrication power tools   
  • Assemble and test oxy-acetylene welding equipment etc. 

Other disciplines include: 

HIV and Aids awareness,   numeracy and communication skills and Entrepreneurship.
