The Pre-Entry to Tertiary Education Programme (PETE) forms an integral part of  Education and Training

The PETE programme was designed by NAMCOL in response to a tender issued by the Ministry of Education.  PETE is offered by NAMCOL to learners who intend to pursue further studies in Sciences at institutes of higher learning.

The need for the programme stems from the realisation that the current science and technology related programmes in institutions of higher learning indicate low admissions in relation to gender and from the least advantaged groups, high failure rates, low completion rates and outputs whose competencies are not well-matched to employment needs.

 The PETE programme was, therefore, introduced and expanded rapidly to address the mismatch between exit skills at secondary level and the required entry skills at higher education level.

The Ministry of Education has engaged NAMCOL to offer this programme to selected Grade 12 learners who wish to improve their grades for admission at institutions of higher learning.

Subjects included in the programme are English 2nd Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physical Science and Computer Studies.
